Stunningly Planned, Magnificent Island Oasis with Sound Views: 54 Bear Creek

This home, though stunning and grand as you approach it, does not hint at the interior's
 incredible beauty.

It's not often that words fail, but some homes truly escape description. They're the type of properties that you can't do justice to in words, pictures, or even an incredibly intricate 3-D tour that uses the most up-to-date technology. Homes like these are like a wonderful piece of art or a classic novel--they need to be savored and experienced to be truly appreciated for all of their incredible details.

But in real estate, you have to use pictures and words to describe, so we're going to do our best with 54 Bear Creek. I am truly excited about this listing, because it is both an incredibly well planned home and a truly beautiful showcase of architecture and geography.  What does that mean? You can live in it and be perfectly thrilled by the little details that make life easier while simultaneously have your breath taken away by soaring ceilings, floor to ceiling views of Ribaut, and a feeling that you have stepped into an island oasis.

Situated in one of Hilton Head's most popular full-time communities, this neighborhood offers a host of amenities: 24 hour security, a new resort-style pool, and a marina (among other perks).  It's hard to imagine that this home is even part of a community, though, because it feels like a hideaway.

The Main Floor

That feeling begins almost immediately after setting foot in this three-story home, as your attention is divided between a sweeping staircase worthy of the grandest of entrances and the enormous walls of windows that surround the entryway.

The design of this home offers both formal and casual living spaces, but manages to do so without breaking up the flow of the home or stopping the incredible natural light that fills the entire home.  Just off the entry way, you'll find a formal living area with a fireplace.

That fireplace is shared with the family room, which flows directly into the kitchen and dining area.  What's most obvious about these living areas is the focus on the views. Every room is full of nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, maximizing both the natural light and the focus on the outdoors.  With views like these, it's the perfect choice.  The natural landscaping surrounding this home makes it feel like an island escape, and nothing prevents those views from being the star.

Easy to maintain travertine extends throughout the space.  In-floor heating not only makes this choice more comfortable on chillier days, but it also increases the energy efficiency of the entire home.  The design choice mimics the incredible light coming through the windows. Nothing competes with the light--not even the floors!

A circular dining area is set off from the family room, but remains a part of the room as a whole.  A spacious kitchen that should be the envy of home cooks everywhere--and even a few professional chefs!--anchors this space.

Everywhere you look in this kitchen, you'll see thoughtful details and upgraded options: plenty of cabinets that provide tons of storage, granite countertops, a large pantry, and some incredible stainless steel appliances. This appliance package goes above and beyond, with a double oven, a restaurant-quality gas range, wine fridge, and a host of other extras that demonstrates the level of careful attention that was paid to every part of this home.

The main floor of the home features two rooms: an office (which could be used as a guest room or bedroom) and the master suite with attached Carolina room.

The master suite is a true retreat, with plenty of flexible space and an incredible spa bath that will make your neighbors jealous. Truly.  The attached Carolina room offers a great place for a reading nook, a workout space, a small office, or even a nursery.  It also provides a privacy buffer, as the it is where the entry to the master is--you'll truly feel like you've gotten away from the rest of the house in this suite.

We hate to choose a favorite thing about a house, but this master bath has to make the top three.  It's truly incredible.  The space alone is awe-inspiring, but the upgrades will blow your mind.  A three-way mirror, double vanities with tons of storage, spacious countertops that ensure that you won't be bumping elbows with anyone as you are getting ready, and thoughtful lighting choices make this an outstanding place to get ready to face the day.

But who wouldn't be able to face their day with a smile with a bath/shower option like this? A large soaking tub, glass shower, and steam shower sit at the end of the spa-like master bath, with plenty of natural light coming in through windows that also maintain privacy.

One truly thoughtful detail is the pass-through from the master bedroom into the main laundry room.  Anyone who has ever had to carry large loads of laundry from one end of a home to the other can appreciate this choice, as well as the spacious laundry room with plenty of storage.

The Third Floor

At the top of that stunning staircase is a game room/office space with a kitchen area. This is the absolute perfect place for entertaining, for getting some work done, or creating a much more casual living space. The third floor is clearly meant for guests, but it's flexible enough to suit the needs of whomever it serves.  The kitchenette offers guests some freedom to snack in peace or it gives kids a great place to bring friends or tackle homework after school.

The third floor also has two bedrooms, each with their own baths--perfect for out of town guests or family. The distance from the master bedroom maximizes privacy for everyone.  Both rooms are spacious, with one of the baths featuring double vanities and both with tiled showers.

The Outdoors

You can't talk about 54 Bear Creek without talking about the deck and balcony and incredible outdoor living area.  The expansive raised pool (which extends off of the second floor) allows the entertaining and living and enjoyment of the incredible views to seamlessly transition outdoors.  The deck offers plenty of shaded and sunny spots to enjoy it, and the pool and spa are
designed to feel nestled into the landscape.  The space feels private and open at the same time, a difficult challenge to meet but one that this home excels at in general.

The Garage/Workshop/Storage Area

Room for at least four cars, and probably more. A workshop area. A home gym.  Storage closets and nooks.  Tiled floors throughout.  Have you ever heard of a home with more than 3000 square feet of space for the car enthusiast, the weekend warrior, the DIY enthusiast, or the collector? Now you have. When you look at the 3D tour of the home, pay special attention to how much space the first floor offers.  What potential! Pictures can't possibly do it justice, but it's an incredible addition to the value of this home.

Are you ready to see it for yourself? Make sure you give yourself enough time to take in the little details--the indoor pool controls, the elevator, the light-filled rooms, the expansive views--because I promise you...you'll fall in love.

I know I have.
